Marine Radio Operator’s VHF Certificate of Proficiency
Minimum standard OMC Licence
The correct use of marine radios is paramount to safe boating and in the right hands, a marine radio can save lives.
If you own a VHF or MF/HF Marine Radio hand held or fixed set, as a minimum, all operators are required to posses the Marine Radio operators VHF Certificate of Proficiency (MROVCP) as issued by the Office of Maritime Communications (OMC), a branch of the Australian Maritime College (AMC), on behalf of Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA).
This course includes hands on radio experience to give you the confidence to understand and use your own radio equipment on your boat at sea.
This one day course will cover:
Introduction to Marine VHF
- Maritime communications, coast radio and limited coast stations
- Radio equipment and maintenance
- VHF marine repeaters

Calling Procedures of operating a radio transceiver during broadcast of

Digital Selective Calling (DSC)
Survival Craft Equipment
- Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacons (EPIRB)
- Search and Rescue Transponders (SARTs)

Upon completion of our course you will obtain a nationally recognised Marine Radio Licence.
