This is an advanced theory course which can be completed at home or in the class room. It will cover the required syllabus to Yachtmaster standard.
You will learn about:
- Advanced chart work including compass deviation and leeway
- Advanced passage planning and use of Almanacs
- Use of tidal stream data to plot course to steer
- Secondary tidal port calculations
- Weather including formation of weather, cold fronts, fog, forecasting terms and land affects.
- Collision regulations including lights sounds and shapes and the rule structure
- Ship stability

There are three supervised assessment papers and certificates are issued on successful completion. Certificates are recognised overseas. You will have advanced standing in the theory of navigation and marine knowledge.
